About Panamera Turbo S V8 4.8L

Porsche is positioning its fastest, most powerful, and most luxurious 970.2 Panamera at the top of its Gran Turismo series with the 970.2 Panamera turbo S. Boasting 570bhp and a top speed of 310 km/h, along with an extensive and high-quality range of features, the Panamera turbo S stands out in its market segment. For the first time, an Executive version is available, featuring a 15 cm (5.9”) longer wheelbase to offer significantly more rear space and comfort. This Executive model includes thermal and noise-insulated windows with privacy glazing, a rear-specific interior lighting package, and a large rear center console.

The 970.2 Panamera turbo S's sporty and luxurious character is evident not only in its performance but also in its appearance. Exclusive to this model is the Palladium metallic exterior color, enhancing its elegant contours. The 20-inch 911 turbo II wheels are larger and wider than those on other Gran Turismo models, and the four-way rear spoiler, painted to match the exterior, adds to its distinctive look.

This top Panamera model features an extensive range of equipment appropriate for a luxury vehicle. Standard driving dynamics control systems include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC), which reduces lateral inclination in bends to increase agility and comfort, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus), which enhances traction with a variable torque split at the rear wheels. The Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system offers superior resistance to brake fading and wear. The Panamera Turbo S also features speed-sensitive Power Steering Plus, Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) adaptive damper control, and adaptive air suspension with additional air volume.

A 50-bhp increase in power over the Panamera turbo engine was achieved through specific revisions. The Panamera turbo S uses two new turbochargers with larger compressors, increasing airflow and oxygen injection into the combustion chambers. The injection pressure was also increased to 140 bar. These enhancements result in a torque increase of 50 Nm to 750 Nm, with overboost reaching 800 Nm, making overtaking easier and faster. Despite these improvements, the Panamera Turbo S maintains the same NEDC fuel consumption as the Panamera Turbo at 10.2 liters per 100 km, which is over 11% less than the predecessor model.

The optional sports exhaust system allows drivers to enjoy a motorsport-like sound experience, controlled via an acoustic channel that can be activated with the push of a button. The system also includes a feature where individual cylinders are skipped during gear shifts for quicker engine speed reduction and faster clutch engagement.

The Panamera turbo S effectively converts its increased power and torque into sporty driving dynamics. The Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel-drive system ensures optimal power transmission, even in challenging conditions. The standard Sport Chrono package coordinates drive power and chassis settings for a consistently sporty response. The overboost function in "Sport" and "Sport Plus" modes and during kickdown in "Normal" mode provides temporary increased boost pressure for powerful acceleration. The "Launch Control" function ensures optimal acceleration from a standstill, enabling the Panamera Turbo S to reach 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.

The chassis features all active systems developed for the sporty Gran Turismo range. The PASM system continuously adjusts damper forces to suit road conditions and driving style, offering three performance modes: Comfort, Sport, and Sport Plus. The adaptive air suspension allows for different spring rates, enhancing driving comfort and sporty dynamics.

The combination of PDCC and PTV Plus provides the most advanced chassis in the Panamera lineup. PDCC uses active stabilizers to prevent body roll and improve balance, resulting in excellent agility, steering performance, and load alteration behavior. The PTV Plus system further enhances driving dynamics with an electronically controlled rear-axle differential lock for optimized traction and steering behavior.

The Panamera Turbo S comes standard with PCCB, race-tested ceramic brakes offering significant advantages over conventional brakes, including reduced mass, faster handling response, and corrosion resistance.
