About 968 CS 3.0L 1993-95

In October 1992, Porsche unveiled the "Club Sport" edition of the 968, catering to performance-minded enthusiasts. Designed for increased track performance, this variant shed much of the luxury features found in the standard 968. Luxury amenities were removed or made optional, including power windows replaced by manual crank units, and upgraded stereo systems. While options like A/C and sunroof remained, the focus shifted towards performance.

The Club Sport featured manually adjustable lightweight Recaro racing seats, replacing the standard power-operated leather buckets. Suspension tweaks lowered the car by 20 mm for optimal track performance, paired with 17-inch wheels and wider tires for enhanced grip. The airbag steering wheel was replaced with a thicker-rimmed sports steering wheel, and rear seats were omitted entirely. The exterior boasted distinct colour options and "Club Sport" decals, enhancing its track-focused aesthetic.

For the 1994 model year, new colours like Riviera Blue were introduced, along with various option packs, including the option to add comfort rear seats with an electric boot release.

Internally, the Club Sport underwent significant weight-saving measures. Electrical components were reduced, simplifying the wiring loom and swapping to a smaller battery. These changes contributed to a weight reduction of approximately 100 kg (220 lb) compared to the standard 968. This, combined with optimized suspension, showcased the Club Sport's performance capabilities both on the road and track.

The Club Sport garnered recognition, winning the 'Performance Car Of The Year' award in 1993 from Performance Car magazine in the UK. Although primarily available in the UK, Europe, Japan, and Australia, some "grey market" models found their way to other regions. With a declared weight of 1,320 kg (2,910 lb), the 968 CS accelerated from 0 to 97 km/h (60 mph) in 5.6 seconds and boasted a top speed of 260 km/h (162 mph).
