About Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo

With 750-horsepower, launch control and gravel mode in a family-friendly wagon, this may be the most practical car on the planet. Take the screaming fast all-electric 9J1 Taycan Turbo S—the fastest, most powerful version atop the 9J1 Taycan range—and make it a wagon with a little more ground clearance (0.78 inches) and more headroom (3.62 inches) in the rear seats, and you have the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo. The all-wheel-drive Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo has one electric motor per axle, with a one-speed transmission up front and a two-speed transmission in the rear.

As incredible as the Taycan Turbo models are, the Turbo S variants push the envelope even further with mind-boggling performance. No, the ‘Turbo’ designation does not mean there is a turbocharger present; this is, after all, an all-electric vehicle. In ‘Porsche-speak,’ turbo is more than a model variant. It describes the limit of what is technologically feasible, a principle that plays out clearly with the 9J1 Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo.

It is a station wagon, alright, but one that’s supercar quick despite its 5,200-lb bulk. Porsche claims the sprint to 60 mph from a standing start is over in a time-warping 2.7 seconds, generating g-forces that feel like a solid weight against your chest. It beggars belief, but the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo has been proven to be even quicker in the real world. The performance is courtesy of a sizzling powertrain that generates an astounding 750 hp. Even without the Overboost function, there’s still 616 hp and 774 lb-ft on tap, a healthy surplus over and above what is required for normal everyday driving.

Performance aside, the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo still offers most of the practicality present across the Cross Turismo lineup. There’s the generous boot space, enough standard seating for four adults and luxurious interior trimmings. The range is slightly disappointing at 202 miles (according to EPA estimates). However, the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is not really how far you can drive before the battery runs out of electrons. It’s more about the ability to unleash the explosive power packed within its stout frame, a feat that’s executed flawlessly.

Unsurprisingly, that type of performance does not come cheap, especially if it comes in a Porsche-branded package. The Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is the most expensive model in the entire Taycan lineup.
