Summertime cruising in the current Porsche 992 Carrera 4S Cabriolet is pure bliss. Its powerful flat-six engine, especially with the optional sports exhaust, delivers a thrilling soundtrack matched by ample torque and superb handling. Evolving into a refined GT-type car, the 992 Carrera 4S Cabriolet maintains its performance edge while offering top-down driving enjoyment.
Powered by the same 3.0ltr twin-turbo flat-six engine as its siblings, the Carrera 4S Cabriolet boasts 443 horsepower and 390 ft lbs of torque, coupled with an eight-speed twin-clutch PDK transmission. With an additional clutch and differential upfront, it excels in varied conditions, making it ideal for regions experiencing both winter snow and summer heat. Porsche introduces an innovative Wet Mode as standard, enhancing safety by detecting water on the road and prepping stability control and brakes accordingly. The all-wheel-drive system receives significant enhancements, improving traction on various surfaces, from snow to wet and dry conditions.
The folding insulated cloth top, featuring a heated glass rear window and a new "panel bow" design, complements the Coupe's sleek lines without sacrificing elegance or performance. With a swift 12-second operation and an integrated wind deflector, top-down driving is seamless and serene, allowing for easy conversation at speed. Structural improvements ensure minimal tradeoffs between Coupe and Cabriolet variants, with the Carrera 4S Cabriolet delivering impressive performance numbers, including a 0-60 mph time of 3.4 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 11.8 seconds, with a top speed of 188 mph.
