In 2017, the second generation of the Panamera made its debut, addressing the shortcomings of its predecessor. Embracing the signature sleekness of a four-door coupe, it captured the essence of Porsche's design ethos, resembling a stretched 911 with its engine positioned at the front. The inclusion of 4-LED headlights as standard added to its allure, accentuating its captivating aesthetics. Surprisingly, features like the rear windscreen wiper and reversing camera were available only as optional extras.
The 971.1 Panamera turbo epitomised the perfect blend of performance, luxury, and comfort. Equipped with a new 4.0ltr V8, twin-turbo engine, it delivered 30hp more than its predecessor, despite a smaller displacement. Optional features like PASM (Porsche Adaptive Suspension Management) and the Porsche Chrono Package further elevated its performance capabilities. Standard with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (PDK), power was efficiently distributed to all corners via the PTM (Porsche Traction Management) system.
Inside, the Panamera offered an optional upgrade to either a Bose or Burmeister premium sound system, enhancing audio quality. Smartphone connectivity was facilitated through a dedicated Porsche app, although Android Auto was notably absent. Standard 14-way adjustable seats could be further enhanced with an optional upgrade to an 18-way configuration.
Porsche introduced the "Executive" models. These variants set new standards for space, ambience, and ride comfort. The wheelbase and passenger compartment were extended by 15cm, enhancing rear seat comfort significantly, as the body was extended behind the B-pillar. This design allowed for larger doors for easier entry and provided more legroom in front of the two rear bucket seats.
