Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart’s sportiest Gran Turismo, is leaving the pits: the 970.2 Panamera GTS. At Porsche, GTS stands for Gran Turismo Sport, a name that has promised extraordinary performance since the legendary 904 Carrera GTS debuted in 1963.
The Panamera GTS boasts more power and upgraded brakes, a body lowered by ten millimeters, and a sport-tuned chassis with air suspension and PASM, making it capable of handling the racing circuit without sacrificing practicality.
This sportiest of all 970.2 Panameras announces its presence with a striking sound and distinctive design features, including unique front, side, and rear elements and black highlights. The interior is tailored to its sporty nature, featuring sports seats, a SportDesign steering wheel with shift paddles, exclusive GTS leather upholstery, and Alcantara surfaces.
Under the hood, the Panamera GTS houses a modified 4.8ltr naturally aspirated V8 engine, delivering 434hp (316 kW) at 6,700 rpm, surpassing the Panamera S/4S models by 30hp (22 kW). Maximum torque has also increased, from 500 Nm to 520 Nm. The Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission and all-wheel drive (PTM) system, enhanced by the standard Sport Chrono package, transmit power seamlessly, enabling the Panamera GTS to sprint to 100 km/h in under 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 288 km/h. With NEDC fuel consumption of 10.9 l/100 km (or 10.7 l/100 km with low-friction tires), the Panamera GTS maintains efficiency in its class.
The 970.2 Panamera GTS’s sporty characteristics are further highlighted by its advanced chassis. The adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system, standard on the GTS, continuously adjust the chassis settings, including leveling, height, spring rate, and damping, to meet driving demands. Tauter damping enhances agility, reinforcing the Panamera GTS’s dynamic personality. Five-millimeter thick wheel spacers increase the rear axle track width for a more stable ride, supported by 19-inch tires sized 255/45 at the front and 285/40 at the rear. Deceleration is managed by the exceptional braking system of the Panamera Turbo.
