About Panamera 4S V8 4.8L

Drawing inspiration from the Cayenne model, Porsche equipped the 970.1 Panamera with a 4.8ltr V8 engine.

In the case of the Panamera 4S, this powertrain is complemented by an all-wheel-drive system and a 7-speed automatic gearbox (PDK – double-clutch). With 400 horsepower at its disposal, this 4-door hatchback is capable of sprinting from 0 to 100 kph (0-62 mph) in just 5 seconds.

Its design cues echoed elements from the Cayenne, with headlights bearing resemblance to those of the SUV. The overall profile featured a sleek silhouette reminiscent of an elongated 911 or the 989 concept car.

For decades, Porsche had contemplated a four-door sedan before finally unveiling the initial photos of the Panamera on November 24, 2008. The first-generation Panamera revolutionized performance in its class, setting new standards for executive four-doors on twisty roads, despite mixed reactions to its design. The Panamera's development followed the immense success of Porsche's Cayenne SUV, convincing the company that a sedan would complement its existing lineup. Sales results indicate that Porsche's decision was spot on.

To enhance aerodynamics, two vents adorned the front fenders, serving to extract air from the wheel wells and mitigate the front-lift effect. At the rear, the taillights took inspiration from the Cayman sports car, contributing to the Panamera's cohesive design language.

Notably, a retractable wing was integrated into the trunk lid, automatically extending at speeds exceeding 120 kph (74.5 mph) to optimize stability and aerodynamic performance, highlighting the Panamera's fusion of luxury and sportiness.
