Boosting performance and efficiency is a core competency at Porsche. In developing the new Panamera 4S, this focus led to the creation of an entirely new engine based on the downsizing concept: a 3.0ltr V6 bi turbo. This V6 biturbo replaces the previous 4.8ltr V8 in the Panamera S and Panamera 4S, and is also used in the new Executive version of the Panamera 4S. The improvements are evident: 20 more horsepower, an additional 20 Newton meters of torque, and up to 18 percent better fuel economy compared to the previous V8 engine. This upgrade not only provides drivers with a more powerful and efficient engine, but the turbocharging also delivers a maximum torque of 520 Newton meters over a broad range of engine speeds, ensuring a superior and consistent power curve even at low revs.
As part of the mid-cycle refresh for the Panamera, Porsche introduced the "Executive" models. These variants set new standards for space, ambience, and ride comfort. The wheelbase and passenger compartment were extended by 15 centimeters, enhancing rear seat comfort significantly, as the body was extended behind the B-pillar. This design allowed for larger doors for easier entry and provided more legroom in front of the two rear bucket seats.
The 970.2 Panamera 4S Executive features a powerful and superior engine. Power transmission is handled by the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), known for its smooth and comfortable shifts. The all-wheel-drive Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system ensures optimal traction at all times. The chassis is tuned for comfort, featuring a standard air suspension and the comfortably tuned active damper system PASM.
The exteriors of the Executive models exude understated elegance, with numerous features designed for exclusive ride comfort. For instance, the standard automatic soft-close system gently draws the doors into their locking mechanisms with servo support. Low-noise and thermally insulated window glass ensure a pleasant ambience in all conditions. Privacy glass is also standard, protecting against unwanted looks. The electric slide/tilt glass sunroof enhances climate comfort, and park assist simplifies car handling.
Inside, passengers can expect a luxurious and comfortable ambience. Interior space is enhanced with an additional six degrees of adjustment angle on the rear seat backrests and a twelve-centimeter longer foot area for more legroom. The standard comfort seats at the rear, with comfort head restraints, are individually adjustable. They feature electric four-way lumbar support, electric backrest adjustment, and electric longitudinal seat adjustment. A dedicated lighting package focuses on the rear passenger compartment, featuring footwell illumination, illuminated door storage bins, and dimmable lighting in the roof console, along with two additional reading lights.
The three-stage control of seat heating and seat ventilation, with separate front and rear control, ensures optimal seating comfort year-round. The four-zone automatic climate control system allows for individually adjustable climate zones at each seating location. The large center console offers additional storage space and an armrest, along with a 230-volt accessory outlet (or 110-volt depending on the market) for charging electronic devices or supplying power directly from the electrical system. Electric roll-up sun blinds for the side windows and rear windscreen provide additional sun protection and privacy as needed. The Panamera Executive models are further distinguished by "executive" signatures in the rear seating area and on the brushed aluminum door sill guards. The interior is rounded out with leather upholstery available in one of five standard colors.
