About Panamera 4 E-Hybrid V6 2.9L 4WD Executive

The fourth model of the Panamera lineup was introduced at the 2016 Paris Motor Show, showcasing the enhanced plug-in hybrid version known as the 971.1 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid. Porsche, a pioneer in hybrid mobility since the debut of the Lohner-Porsche in 1900 at the Paris Exhibition, chose the same city over a century later to unveil its latest hybrid innovation.

The second-generation 971.1 Panamera, launched in 2016, addressed the design flaws of its predecessor. Its sleek four-door coupe look, combined with refined exterior details, reaffirmed the faith of Porsche enthusiasts. Resembling a stretched 911 with a front-mounted engine, it featured standard 4-LED headlights that enhanced its appeal. The 971.1 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid was distinguished by electric-green brake calipers and green “hybrid” badges on the fenders and trunk lid.

Inside, the 971.1 Panamera 4 E-Hybrid boasted a wide 12.3-inch touch-screen central PCM (Porsche Communication Management) unit, positioned at the same level as the steering wheel on the center stack. This display facilitated access to various information and settings for the hybrid system.

The hybrid system was the centerpiece of the 4 E-Hybrid, marking the first all-wheel-drive Panamera hybrid. It combined a more powerful electric motor with a twin-turbo 2.9ltr V6 petrol engine, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. Unlike its rear-wheel-drive predecessors, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid always started in electric mode before activating its petrol engine, allowing for an electric range of up to 50 km (31 miles). Its Li-ion battery pack had a capacity of 15.1 kWh, nearly 50% more than the previous model.

Porsche introduced the "Executive" models. These variants set new standards for space, ambience, and ride comfort. The wheelbase and passenger compartment were extended by 15cm, enhancing rear seat comfort significantly, as the body was extended behind the B-pillar. This design allowed for larger doors for easier entry and provided more legroom in front of the two rear bucket seats.
