By DesignTekThe original Porsche Cayenne entered the global market to a mixed reception but quickly proved its merit with excellent performance for an SUV, featuring impressive handling and powerful engines. The initial lineup included the V8-powered Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo, with V6 added later. Over the eight model years of the E1 generation, a total of 276,652 units were produced.
The base model Cayenne is equipped with a 3.2-ltr V6 engine that produces 250PS (184kW; 247hp). While the intake manifold is unique to Porsche, the engine is largely similar to the VW version. The Cayenne accelerates from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 9.1 seconds with the manual transmission and 9.7 seconds with the Tiptronic S.
