About 997 MKII GT2 RS 2011>>

On May 4, 2010, Porsche publicly unveiled the GT2 RS to German Porsche dealers in Leipzig. Powering the GT2 RS is a 3.6-liter twin-turbocharged Flat-6 engine that churns out an impressive 620 PS (612 bhp; 456 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb⋅ft) of torque. Weighing 70 kg (154 lb) less than its predecessor, the outgoing GT2, the GT2 RS boasts remarkable performance figures, reaching a top speed of 330 km/h (205 mph) and accelerating from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 3.5 seconds. It was hailed as the fastest and most powerful 911 of its generation.

According to Porsche Motorsports manager Andreas Preuninger, the RS concept emerged around 2007 as a skunk-works initiative. The project was given the code number 727, matching one of the Nissan GT-R's lap times around the Nürburgring's Nordschleife. Upon completion, Porsche claimed that test driver Timo Kluck had surpassed that target by nine seconds.

Since its introduction, the GT2 has exclusively been offered as an RS model, with no standard (non-RS) variant available.
