About 993 (911) RS 1994-97

The Carrera RS, manufactured in 1995 and 1996, stands out as a lightweight version of the Carrera model. Powered by a naturally aspirated 3.8ltr engine, it delivers a formidable maximum output of 300PS (221kW; 296hp), achieved through a combination of lightweight forged pistons, dual oil coolers, enlarged intake valves, Varioram variable-length intake manifold, modified Bosch Motronic engine management system, and lightened rocker arms.

Equipped with a six-speed G50/31 manual gearbox featuring modified gear ratios for the first three gears, the Carrera RS also boasts larger 322 mm cross-drilled and ventilated disc brakes, shared with the 911 Turbo, and a standard limited-slip differential. Its exterior is easily distinguishable by a prominent fixed rear wing, small front flaps, and three-piece 18-inch (457 mm) aluminum wheels, with headlight washers omitted for weight-saving purposes.

Inside, the Carrera RS adopts a stripped-down approach with rear seats removed, replaced by special racing seats and Spartan door cards. Soundproofing is minimized, and the suspension system incorporates Bilstein dampers and a lowered ride height for enhanced handling. Adjustable front and rear antiroll bars, along with an under-bonnet strut brace, further optimize performance. With a seam-welded body shell, aluminum bonnet supported by a single strut, and thinner glass, the Carrera RS achieves a final weight of 1,280kg (2,822lb).

The Clubsport variant, geared towards track use, features a welded roll cage, suspension strut brace, lightweight composite bucket seats, and racing harnesses. Comfort features such as carpets, power windows, air conditioning, and radio are omitted. Sporting a larger rear wing and deeper chin spoiler, it also boasts modified gearbox ratios for improved performance.

While the Carrera RS was street legal in Europe and various other markets, it was not approved for import to the United States. Production totaled 1,014 units, including 227 Clubsport variants.
