The 992 Porsche 911 Turbo S boasts a new 3.8ltr boxer six cylinder engine with two variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers, producing 640hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It powers all four wheels via an 8-speed PDK transmission with manual mode, reaching 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds.
Remarkably, this matches the performance of the previous generation's 700hp 911 GT2 RS, which hit 60 mph in 2.8 seconds. New air intakes in the rear lid grille improve cooling, enhancing power development. The turbocharger wheels, spinning in opposite directions, balance each other like a gyroscope. The larger turbine and compressor wheels, measuring 55 mm and 61 mm respectively, optimize performance. Carbon ceramic brakes with ten-piston calipers in the front are standard.
The front splitter is an active aerodynamic component, extending to increase downforce by up to 15%, while the rear wing ensures stability. The Turbo S is wider than the standard 911 Carrera, with a 45 mm wider front and 20 mm wider rear, giving it a more aggressive stance and improved mechanical grip. The front track is 42 mm wider and the rear track is 10 mm wider. Options include Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which lowers the car by 10 mm and adds active exhaust flaps for a louder engine note. The Turbo S accelerates to 125 mph in 8.9 seconds, a full second faster than its predecessor.
The interior features carbon-fiber trim, 18-way adjustable sport seats, and 930 Turbo–inspired stitching. Standard equipment includes a 10.9-inch touchscreen, GT sport steering wheel, Sport Chrono package, and Bose surround-sound system. New options for the 992 Turbo S include a sport suspension and a sport exhaust with adjustable flaps. Standard features also include Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control, rear-axle steering, and ceramic composite brakes with 10-piston front calipers. The 2022 model's upgraded infotainment system features a 10.9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, and, for the first time, Android Auto compatibility.
