About 992 Carrera 2 3.0L

Porsche has introduced the latest iteration of the entry-level Porsche 992 Carrera 2, offering impressive performance and driving dynamics at a slightly reduced cost. To achieve this, Porsche opted to fine-tune the twin-turbocharged flat-six engine and make adjustments to some chassis components.

While the 992 model is marginally larger and heavier than its predecessor, the 991-generation model, it also represents a leap in technological advancement. The architecture embraces more extensive use of aluminum, features wider tracks, and showcases Porsche's refined turbocharged engines, delivering enhanced power and torque. While the exterior design evolves subtly, with some areas appearing bulkier yet others sleeker, the interior undergoes a more significant transformation. New interfaces and modern elements maintain the distinctive 911 character.

Under the hood, the base Carrera Coupe shares the same 3.0ltr flat-six engine as its Carrera S counterpart, albeit with slightly reduced turbocharging, outputs, and specifications. Power output rises by 15 bhp from the 991 Carrera, reaching 379 bhp @ 6500 rpm, ample for everyday driving. Although it falls short by over 60 bhp compared to the Carrera S, the base coupe remains agile. In fact, it accelerates from 0-60 mph in just 4.0 seconds, or 3.8 seconds with launch control, a 0.2-second improvement over the previous generation. The base model exclusively offers the eight-speed PDK transmission, and despite shedding around 22 pounds compared to the Carrera S, the difference is hardly noticeable.

Externally, the car boasts 19-inch wheels at the front and 20-inch wheels at the rear, paired with four-piston calipers slightly smaller than those of the Carrera S. Inside, the cabin mirrors that of other 911s, featuring a 10.9-inch PCM infotainment system and a central rev counter flanked by two high-definition displays. The 2022 Carrera comes equipped with standard features including 19-inch alloy wheels at the front, 20-inch alloy wheels at the rear, an auto-deploying rear spoiler, and cruise control. LED exterior lights, keyless entry with push-button start, and a Homelink transceiver also come standard. The cabin offers dual-zone automatic climate control, partially power-adjustable front sport seats, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additionally, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and two USB ports are included.

Porsche has enhanced the infotainment system for the 2022 911, featuring a new 10.9-inch touchscreen interface with simplified yet flexible personalization options. Wireless Apple CarPlay is now standard, and for the first time, Android Auto compatibility is available.
