The 991.2 Carrera 4, while similar in design to the new 911, boasts unique features, most notably its AWD system paired with a new turbocharged 3.0ltr flat-six engine. It also includes a distinctive taillight section and an updated infotainment system, enhancing connectivity.
The 991.2 Carrera 4 has received updates like its RWD counterparts, including a redesigned bumper with more defined air ducts and new headlights with four-point daytime running lights. The sides feature larger mirror housings and streamlined door handles. At the rear, a light strip joins the rear lights, emphasizing the Carrera 4's 1.73-inch wider rear section compared to RWD models.
With one in three 911 buyers opting for AWD, the 991.2 Carrera 4's new 3.0ltr biturbo flat-six engine offers more power and efficiency. The standard Carrera 4 delivers 370 bhp, achieving 0-62 mph in 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 181 mph, with a respectable 32.4 mpg on the seven-speed manual. The PDK automatic improves 0-60 mph to 3.9 seconds and 36.6 mpg, maintaining the same top speed.
Inside, updates include a thicker, redesigned steering wheel, a new 7-inch multi-touch display, upgraded PCM connectivity, and an improved navigation system. The Sport Chrono Package adds a 918 Spyder-inspired steering wheel knob for easy mode selection. The interior remains largely unchanged otherwise.
The electro-hydraulically controlled Porsche Traction Management AWD system, borrowed from the 911 Turbo, ensures precise torque distribution. Porsche Active Stability Management (PASM) is standard, providing excellent handling without sacrificing comfort. The Carrera 4's variable, electromechanical steering offers top-tier cornering feedback and road feel, making it an absolute blast to drive.
