About 991 Carrera 2 3.0L (370 Bhp)

The 991.2 Carrera Coupe has undergone more than just a mid-cycle refresh. The updated model is quicker, faster, more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and emits less CO2, which all sound impressive on paper.

The numbers are indeed impressive, especially considering they come from smaller, more efficient engines. The 3.0ltr turbocharged flat-six engine in the base 911 delivers 370bhp at 6500 rpm and 331 ft-lbs of torque from just 1700 rpm. This is a significant improvement over the 991.1 base Carrera, which had 345 bhp and 287 ft-lbs of torque. As a result, the 0-60 mph time has dropped from 4.2 seconds to 4.0 seconds flat, and the top speed has increased to 183 mph. The quarter-mile time has also improved, from 12.7 seconds in the 991.1 to just 11.9 seconds in the new model.

The new engine generation is twin-turbocharged and quite advanced, with both the base 911 and the Carrera S having a displacement of three liters. The base 911 is no slouch and offers plenty of power for street driving. The new mid-range torque is immediately noticeable, providing plenty of acceleration without needing to push the engine to its limits.

For the first time, the new PASM chassis (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is standard on all 991.2 Carrera models. This system lowers the ride height by ten millimeters, improving stability during fast cornering. The new shock absorber generation, with its wider spread characteristics, enhances comfort with a more precise response and better body connection during dynamic driving. New standard wheels with five slim twin spokes have tires with reduced rolling resistance and enhanced performance. Additionally, the width of the rear rims has increased by 0.5 inches to 11.5 inches, and the rear tires of the 911 Carrera S now measure 305 instead of 295 millimeters.

A major update is the all-new Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system. The new PCM infotainment system is faster and more intuitive, operated via multi-touch gestures on a seven-inch display, similar to a smartphone. User inputs can be made by handwriting, and mobile phones can now be connected via Wi-Fi. The smartphone tray, integrated for the first time in the center armrest, offers battery-saving charging and optimized reception. Apple CarPlay is also available, allowing iPhone connectivity with the PCM.

Inside the cabin, the most notable change is the relocation of the vehicle-mode selection to a rotary knob on the steering wheel for cars equipped with the Sport Chrono package. This makes switching to Sport Plus mode more convenient, eliminating the need to fumble with console-mounted buttons. In all other respects, the 911’s interior remains as luxurious and comfortable as ever.
